lets say i have an audio recording of 60 minutes and 15 seconds and i want to reduce it to exactly 60 minutes is there a way to automatically reduce by taking out gaps where no one is saying anything getting rid of air thank you

While this will not shorten to exactly 60 minutes, there is a function in Audacity under the Effects menu called "Truncate Silence", it has some parameters one can choose (essentially how 'quiet' the quiet part must be, etc.). Audacity is a free program and very easy to use. Hope that will help.
