You are saturating your WiFi with the multicast stream.

If your second router is connected to the Actiontec through its WAN port and isn't just being used as a switch, its on the same subnet as the Actiontec which would cause all kinds of problems.

What you want to do is move your second router to 192.168.2.1 or some other number besides 1.

I see a few problems here:

1. Go read a book on basic fundamentals on TCP/IP forwarding and what multicast really does.

2. Your network is in somewhat of a mess.

Only solution? Get a better switch that does IGMP snooping. Those switches will block multicast traffic that isn't intended to go there because most cheap unmanaged switches will flood all the ports regardless if there is multicast traffic sent to it. The cheapest switch that I can even think of that does that would probably be a mikrotik.

I missed that about DHCP being off on the second router. I also noticed your post in the Teksavvy forum explaining some key pieces of your network that you failed to mention here.

That information brings up a few questions about your config:

You no longer have internet service with Telus?

If the Actiontec is doing DHCP how are your non-Optik devices using the second router as their default route?

How is your second router configured? DHCP from the Actiontec or is it manual?

Have you even verified IPTV traffic is reaching your second router? The Actiontec has an IGMP proxy which should only send multicast out on the ports required.

its not a mess - its been working perfectly well for 4 years - i picked up a DWL-3036 for my network it has IGMP spoofing but i dont know how to configure it.

i did - the broadcasts go to each device on the network untended or intended -
