E4200 Can't Pull IP via DHCP after SB6121 SW Download

I see a "SW Download Successful" E111.0 message in my SB6121's log from early this morning. My Cisco E4200 can not pull an IP address via DHCP now. I have rebooted everything (many times). However my MacBook Pro, connected directly via Ethernet to the SB6121 is assigned an address 68.186.55.xxx and connects to the internet. I tried a different E4200 (v2) and it also is unable to connect to the SB6121. Can anyone offer advice ?

Model Name: SB6121
Vendor Name: Motorola
Firmware Name: SB_KOMODO-1.0.6.6-SCM00-NOSH
Boot Version: PSPU-Boot(25CLK) 1.0.12.
Hardware Version: 5.0
Serial Number: 359058131800394901012019
Firmware Build Time: Apr 17 2012 15:09:37

Re: E4200 Can't Pull IP via DHCP after SB6120 SW Download

Boot sequence can be make or break.

Shut down everything, then power up the modem and wait until it's fully on line. Next, power up your router and wait until it's fully on line, then boot up the computer.

Boot sequence didn't do it.

But I am back on-line. I got a hold of someone via "Chat" on my Charter Account home page. (I used my iPhone's Personal Hotspot feature to connect so they could fiddle with my Cable Modem without disrupting our "Chat" session). The person on Chat asked me to ensure the Modem was on and that the Router was connected to it, and said that they would send a "Reset" signal. I was monitoring the status page on the E4200. A couple of minutes later, I saw an IP address assigned to the router and everything started working. So, back on-line here ....

Connect the PC direct to the modem, will it pull an IP still ?

Yes, that was working for me ... the computer was assigned an IP but the Router was not: my MacBook Pro, connected directly via Ethernet to the SB6121 is assigned an address 68.186.55.xxx and connects to the internet. Everything is working as it should after Charter sent the "reset"...

Which modem are you using as you have SB6120 in the topic and SB6121 in the post?

Either way, what is Charter trying to do, totally screw up the 6120 again or picking on the 6121 this time?

Neither of those questions really mean anything now since you're stuff is working again, but sheesh, how many things can Charter either mess up or how much worse can they run their outfit?!

did not even realize they updated the firmware on the 6120, system has been rock solid for a long time, but then I refuse to use linksys since cisco bought them, will use their commercial stuff but not the home items - and my home firewall is a cisco 5510

I had a similar issue overnight earlier this week. I powered everything down for 10-15 minutes, once powered back up all was working again.

Sorry - my modem is an SB6121. Charter sent a "reset" and everything is working normally now. (Powering everything down multiple times and trying different power-up sequences didn't solve it.)
