The RS one is probably OK, but probably sat on a shelf too long and is a bit tarnished.

I keep liquid flux when i use mine, it works much better.

I never used liquid flux, not too long ago my late uncle had a whole can of paste flux and that stuff makes doing wires less of an hassle.
Hopefully by Tuesday I will have power back at least that's what the power company said..

I know the other way I did was use a torch but it was on a motherboard I no longer needed, I held the tip about 10 inches away and they came off smooth but might too risky for something that still works.
