About to Take CableCard Plunge (Linux)
Hello fellow enthusiasts,
I am about to take the CableCard plunge, and eventually ditch my FIOS DVR.
I already have a 24x7 Linux server on my network with tons of CPU, disk and bandwidth.
Installing MythTV on the server is not an issue.
I understand I will need to subscribe to schedulesdirect.org to get my EPG.
My first choice for CableCard would be a HDHomeRun Prime.
What is the current status of Copy-Freely on FIOS TV?
It is critical that I don't lose access to Comedy Central, Cartoon/Adult Swim.
I don't care about Showtime/HBO. I might subscribe to MLB Extra Innings next year.
If you have a similar configuration working, please let me know I am on the right track.
I am looking for a heads up on any issues I might encounter turning this up.
Thanks for taking a few seconds to help me on the right track.

I've just done this with a TiVo, and the only copy protected channels I've found are HBO and Cinemax. For what that's worth
Also, I had quite a bit of trouble getting the Cablecard to work with the pay channels and spent several hours on the phone with a tech as they went through various fixes, only to realize my Data ID had changed. Once they ran the activate notice again it worked fine. So if you're having trouble getting channels to recognize make sure they definitely have the right Host ID, Card ID and Data ID.

looks like its only the premiums. Beware however, that you will run into random programs where there are flags or restrictions. Some of the Olympic broadcasts certainly were, and some random programs like documentaries have occasionally shown up as well. I use media center, so I don't get the restriction, but it does tell the DRM status at the bottom if there is a flag.
Thanks for the link. This is very useful.
Is Fox Sports ever an issue with the copy protection flags?
Losing the Rangers broadcasts would be a show-stopper for me.
I realize the policy could change with little warning on these flags.
I've never had any problems. Even with the premiums, you rarely see any flags.
