 | Apple iPad Mini review Fonts too small Lack of retina makes fonts grainy Cute Small Light
I much prefer my normal iPad |

However, Im sure you bought the mini because of its form factor, does that not outweigh the "font" issue? everything i read makes it sound like the pixel density makes up for the lack of retina.
im sure everyone would prefer the newer processor or retina but thats not why you bought this in the first place.
im waiting on the mini LTE -- welcome to NJ, pay the 7% and go home! |

Re: Apple iPad Mini review Generation one Apple product tradition Is going to suck
Retina display Awfully missing in it Wait for number two |
|
 | reply to spinJR I did not buy it, I looked at it at the Apple store on Lincoln Road.
The fonts are tiny and they show grain. I was spoiled by my iPad, where the fonts are retina quality, clean.
Of course if one expands the fonts behave. And it is a machine one can definitely work on, and it weighs "nothing" on the hands. |

Gordo74Premium join:2003-10-28 Monroeville, PA | reply to Cortland I don't understand how people have a problem with the font. I have an iPad 2 (which is the same resolution in the bigger form factor), and I read books on it all the time and see no problem with how the font is portrayed. |
|
 | I also had no trouble with the iPad2. Its just that the Mini defaults to showing you the whole page, then the fonts are less than a 1/16th so you see the grain more than on the iPad2. |
|
 | reply to Cortland Going from an iPad 2 to the Mini was amazing. So much lighter and easier to handle all around. The resolution is to me, a step up (from the iPad 2) so no complaints. |

|
bbarreraPremium,MVM join:2000-10-23 Sacramento, CA kudos:1 | Its not necessarily RDF. The screen on the iPad mini is an upgrade from my iPad2. |
|
MikePremium,Mod join:2000-09-17 Pittsburgh, PA kudos:1 | You are correct. It is a better screen than the iPad 2.
Given the technology of the current cousin lines and the competitors, it is a step backwards. |

| reply to gjrhine Meh, no way... The original iPad's pixels were the size of texas... Brutal resolution for that size screen to read up close. The mini just makes it a tad better by shrinking the size and keep the resolution the same, so you get a slightly higher PPI.
Still pales in comparison to the iPad3/4 and the iPhone4/5 retina PPI.
can't always polish a turd, no matter how hard you try. --
