Sipgate - Outgoing calls fail

All,

For the past few days, outgoing calls all seem to fail using Sipgate. Incoming calls appear to be working.

Support has been contacted but is useless in fixing.

Is anyone else seeing this issue or is local to my account/setup?

Is this outage geographically redundant?

Not that too many people are on the edge of their seats...

However it appears that Sipgate have resolved the issues with outbound calling.

I don't know that Sipgate is anyone's darling around here... but, it's always good to know who's out there.

Yes, I am seemingly the odd man out with my interest in Sipgate...

I certainly cannot defend their support team, but overall reliability has been great over the past 3 years of use. I think this is maybe the 3rd time I've been unable to make calls.

The free DID, free incoming calls, free outbound toll-free and support for multiple registrations is a rare combination in the VoIP world.

You're likely to stay that way since they don't permit new sign ups.

That's the strange thing:

They seem half in and half out, of the US market that is.

Periodically they will change their website, hinting or promising that they soon will be offering new hookups, but it never firms up.

You're not alone. I have an account with them in Europe and the US. Service offering in Europe is quite different and I still hope they come back to the US market one day with more services.

Interestingly, I got a reply this morning from Sipgate UK. It appears as though my ticket was forwarded to the UK support team.

A very clear explanation was provided that listed that their primary US carrier had sustained damage from the storm. They changed carriers and asked me if I had any further issues.

I may start opening tickets with the UK support group in the future!

Thanks for the information.

Imagine that!

Guess their carrier didn't have geographic redundancy.

Or more likely they did, but it didn't matter.
