Download the Desert Combat mod and you can see where the modern versions have started.

I played BF1942 for years back in the day. But I think this game is best left in the past... atleast for nostalgia's sake. I didn't bother downloading it(although I do have it on Origin), but I did a quick Google search and pulled up some quick screenshots of the game and YIKES! It's a rather rough game to look at now days.
I will always hold the days of 512mb RAM, 80GB HDD, Athlon 2500 CPU, Radeon 9800GT, and BF 1942 close to my heart. But they are best in my nostalgic mind. |
