Nothing on the Adobe Security Bulletins page yet, so we don't know why this was released. |

Well they release a new version every few weeks just for the hell of it Since the minor version number bumped from 4 to 5 I suspect some non-security change. |

@Blackbird -- Yep: Adobe has released security updates for Adobe Flash Player 11.4.402.287 and earlier versions for Windows and Macintosh, Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.243 and earlier versions for Linux, Adobe Flash Player 11.1.115.20 and earlier versions for Android 4.x, and Adobe Flash Player 11.1.111.19 and earlier versions for Android 3.x and 2.x. These updates address vulnerabilities that could cause a crash and potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system.
Adobe recommends users update their product installations to the latest versions:* Users of Adobe Flash Player 11.4.402.287 and earlier versions for Windows and Macintosh should update to Adobe Flash Player 11.5.502.110. |

So that is just wonderful! Adobe, Mozilla, Opera & IE 9 & below are at 11.5.502.110. IE 10 uses 11.3.376.12. & Chrome, who knows. Well surely that won't lead to confusion. And MS has clearly identified just which exploits are covered by their release. Glad it makes it easy to confirm that everything noted in the Adobe notes corresponds with MS's . |

They've explained the previous growth with packing both 32 and 64 versions in one package. But what is this time? What else did they include into the package? They certainly did, but that is it? |

OK, so the new version has also put a file that I've never seen: C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\activex.vch and C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\activex.vch
Any ideas? Still going to quarantine them. |

It looks like it's a database. But why Flash needs a database?
I'll put both files (activex.vch and plugin.vch) into Quarantine folder and see how it goes... |

Ghostery blocks redirects to ad sites when I try to check to see the current version of Flash and then blocks redirects to MORE, DIFFERENT ad sites after I install the latest version and try to check to see if it is working correctly. I have never seen Ghostery do this in the past. edit: I see why Ghostery did that. That is that damn HSTS Preload crap shit on Fx 10 ESR. I didn't even notice that Adobe is now HTTPS on Fx. BUT on IE8 I get HTTP for Adobe and the site is filtered through Proxo so I have toggle switches for Adobe Flash. Proxo is bypassed for HTTPS sites, but I guess I am going to finally have to break down and install the files for Proxo to do HTTPS filtering. Damn Mozilla! There has got to be a way to turn this off on Fx. It is NOT in Opera yet although it was reported in this forum as being in Opera 12.02 but that is not true. It's just Mozilla and Google pushing this and it makes for a huge mess in Firefox especially earlier versions of Fx. Opera 12.02 says the https (HSTS Preload crap) version of Adobe's Flash "about" page is INSECURE. Opera asked me about two nasty ad sites that were using certs from Cert Authorities that I have UNtrusted in Certificate Manager. That explains Ghostery blocking them on Fx 10. Fx 10 simply accepted the certs without first asking me about them even though I have those Cert Authorities UNtrusted on Fx also. Fx is now completely unreliable when it comes to HSTS Preload sites. |
