Fine tuning a new system tends to bring about issues...especially, when all consumer equipment is not standardized and/or some will have defective devices (routers/ethernet_cards/etc).

Being overloaded, Exede is not, but using traffic management equipment, it does.

And yes, Hughes uses traffic management equipment also...see below...hence, let's not confuse "overloaded" with being "fapped." Users on a brand new system normally don't get "fapped."

Hughesnet has few customers on their beams...not a relevant comparison...unless one wants to go back to early days of Exede.

Exede should by no means be overloaded already. People not getting their speeds is not because of congestion.

Using a router as a switch created your initial problems.

There are a few DNS glitches on Exede currently, but as can be seen on Exede 5 I use via current Testmy result (around 10:28 PM CST), speed is not an issue.

It varies from 3 down to 3 up to a blazing 15 down and 5 up. Depending on what time of day. They both work great for streaming video. I believe hughsnet is just a touch faster from page to page browsing, but excede wins hands down with skype video.
