 | Bogus and you know it! Time Warner issues numerous modems and EMTA's, but then only allows 2 "compatible" ones. DOCSIS is a standard. |

DOCSIS is a standard. Try using a SB 6120 modem with firmware 1.1.8 (first retail release) or earlier on TWC, Comcast, Cox or Charter. You'll find in most areas that DOCSIS 3 standard compliant modem won't even sync... since it's no longer compatible. A variety of other "standard compliant" modems have interesting sync reliability, speed, security, and other issues.
I can see why any ISP would want to limit the variety of new equipment attached to their network when the standard is still in development. -- If it's important, back it up... twice. Even 99.999% availability isn't enough sometimes. |
