TP-link modem-router experience

I will soon become a new customer with TekSavvy with their 6MB DSL. I will get TP-LINK TD-8817 (modem-router) that should do the job for me. but I have noticed there are two different models of the same type of the modem: one is regular TP-LINK TD-8817 modem router and the other one is TP-LINK TD-8817 Modem Router Trendchip Chipset. Does anyone know the difference?
Thanks

I would suggest you get a standalone modem & standalone router instead of having a combo device. Routers can be used with any Broadband service, as for this combo device is DSL only.

This "modem router" is not much of a router, it still has just one LAN port. Sure it'll handle PPPoE and NAT routing, but without a LAN switch it's useless for more than 1 machine.

This is identical really to the venerable SpeedTouch 516v6.
