The Old gods were malevolent super-beings. The Titans are stronger beings who traveled to worlds in Chaos with the sole purpose of establishing "order" on them. They defeated some and imprisoned others (Ulduar was a prison), and left beacons and "protocols" in place to correct any imperfections... they also created the dragon aspects to prevent the destruction of Azeroth (which implies they foresaw the meddling of the Old gods would eventually return).

Sargeras was once a Champion of the Titan Pantheon (the dudes who create/fix worlds)... He was placed in charge of fighting the demons of the Twisting nether because they sought to dismantle the Titan's vision for the universe... in his struggle against the demons... he sank into despair... and eventually lost hope not only in his mission but in the Titan's vision for the universe. He now leads the Legion to undo all of the Titan's meddling in the universe, because he blames their activities for all that is wrong in the Universe.

Y'shaarj was killed by a titan. It's death is the reason the sha exist. I don't think it will be a raid boss. Wow Insider's Know Your Lore sections has some pretty good write-ups and speculation about all this but I can't get to it at work.

The klaxxi seem to think Y'shaarj will come back some day.

and so far none of the other old gods have been truely killed, mearly their physical forms destroyed and left greatly weakened.

whatever, I killed Yog and C'thun with a couple of close friends. They dead, man!

You only killed their Physical form.

And you can kill them again every week. (likely the only raid bosses where re-killing them fits lore.)

has there been anything in WoW where you only kill something ONCE and they never come back?

Quest NPCs in phased content. Only once per toon.

the ones out in the world often make sense.

Pigs, they had more infant pigs.
DMF injured, they got hurt again.

but the two old gods respawning actually fits the lore.

i want to be able to kill great mushan once and not have to collect their nasty, slimy tongues. i want to hop on my controllable dreadkunchong, Kovok, once and wipe out 200 mantid.

since when did wiping out most of an opposing forces population NOT break down the morale of troops? Klaxxi dailies are stupid

i agree, i would love a real time game, go in kill a bunch of things come back in a week and guess what their corpses are rotting where i left them, maybe 6 months you see signs of rebuilding and so on. but that game would be immensly huge and need the computing force of nasa to play i think.

How many times am I going to have to "sap tap" for Korven?

And, if everyone in Dread Wastes kills 8 Dreadspinners a day, wouldn't that be an effective way of eradication? I mean, how many freaking spiders hang out in those hills? And what's their gestation period? Because they seem to plop down hundreds of eggs a day.

They breed very fast due to the sha.
