Re: [Voip.ms] is voip.ms clueless about porting cell numbers?

To port a number, VoIP.ms (and their carrier partners) need to have sufficient proof that you legitimately control the number you are trying to port. There may not be an invoice for prepaid, but you can probably print something online that would be close enough to be accepted.

As for the last four of your SSN, this is also not an abnormal request. Their carrier may require it to submit an order. I realize that your wireless carrier doesn't have this on file... that's OK, they will ignore the extra information during the port. Providing excess information doesn't hurt anything.

If they made it too easy to port numbers, fraud would increase (people stealing each others numbers for example).

Also, porting from one wireless carrier to another might work differently than porting from a wireless carrier to a VoIP carrier. Generally, wireless to wireless is the easiest type of port, and anything else can be a little more complicated. If you are patient, any issues with the process can be worked out.
