Yes, the Advisor installer automatically uninstalls a previous version. |

Thanks! BelarcGuy . Appreciate having the Win 8 support, timely! "Antivirus details improved ..." - does that also include the new Windows Defender in Win 8? (= MSE+WinDefender combined). |

Yes, that includes MS Defender (rename of Security Essentials) in Windows 8. |

I noticed that they now hide the installed MS Hotfixes. |

Hi jl747,
The installed MS hotfixes are now moved to a separate page that's clicked through to as needed.
Please let us know if you prefer it one way or the other. |

Since I usually print the results as a PDF I am use to seeing all of the MS Hotfixes along with the rest of the data.
So, I'll just go along with the majority on this subject. I can always do merge of the 2 like I did today. Not a big deal.
Maybe have an option during the install to have the MS Hotfixes separate or not. |

Thanks! A very useful and helpful program. Just wondered about the date format on the "Installed Microsoft Hotfixes" page? Some are listed in Month/Day/Year format while others are listed in Day/Month/Year format. Please see attached snip which shows 11/09/12 for a September 11, 2012 fix and 9/21/12 for a September 21, 2012 fix and 9/10/12 for October 9, 2012 fixes. |

Past benchmarks we used were from NSA or other security organization, and it's not clear when those will become available for Windows 8.
Can you say how you expect to use the benchmark, or how you have for previous windows versions? |

Thanks BelarcGuy. Now, for a silly question. Is there an official link where I can download older versions of this program? Just curious. I can't seem to find anything in a search that I trust completely. (Probably out there somewhere, but I haven't found it yet). |

Belarc doesn't continue to make available old versions of the Advisor.
Perhaps you could say what your goal is in having access to old versions? |

Thanks for the quick response! Really, I just wanted to experiment, and I didn't save the installer for the version before this one. Fact is, when using either IE or Firefox, everything is fine, but when using Opera (my primary Browser), not only are some of the images missing, but when I click on the link to see installed Hotfixes, I get an invalid URL message. I can probably fix it, and it's no big deal anyway...was just curious as to what's going on. Here is a screenshot of IE and/or Firefox:
And here is the same with Opera:
Like I said, no big deal. In fact, I don't think the images were displayed properly in Opera with the last version either, but I was at least able to see the installed hotfixes when they were on the same page. (And I don't think it's a configuration problem with Opera itself...although it may be). Oh yeah, and by the way...this is on an older XP machine. Haven't tried my Win7 machine yet). Again, no biggie. |

That appears to be a known bug in the Opera browser that they're fixing »my.opera.com/community/f ··· 13377812

Thanks again BelarcGuy..I came to the same conclusion. Don't use Belarc Advisor too often, but when I do, I find it quite useful. And when I do use it, it's certainly no problem to use one of my other Browsers. Have a nice day. |
