Brighter Reverse bulbs (1156)
After searching this and a Jeep forum and YouTube Comparisons: I was hoping for a LED replacement to the standard Reverse lights.
Not much recent information. The dated results indicate best to replace the 27watt incandescent with 55watt incandescent which may be fine, but hotter and Jeeps are known for current drop through the long small gauge wires. And LED replacements, though white light, are not necessarily a brighter alternative and tend to provide focused directional output.
My interest is to assist me using the side mirrors when backing at night. Not as concerned with illuminating directly behind the Jeep. So hitch alternatives are less appealing.
A friend of mine wired up a pair of 55w driving lights, mounted to the license plate panel, and then wired up. Works quite well. The hard part was getting a heavy enough wire through the hatch to the body.
