Questions

I have a cable box where the coax won't screw in. I looked at the back and the jack is all white with a little copper piece in the middle. Can I exchange it for a new one?

Also, I'm thinking of getting HSI. The coax's center conductor doesn't extend past the metal shield (the part where the screw threads are). Will I have to have a tech come out and fix that for optimum signal?

Yeah, if there is a piece of the center conductor broke off in the F-connector then it should be exchanged.

The center conductor should not extend past the end of the connector. Flush or slightly recessed is good.
