[TV] Questions about Whole House DVR problems and functionality
I have just converted from regular DVR to Whole House DVR and have some questions that are not covered on the web site. The DVR is a Motorola DCX3510 and the remote is a UR5U-8790L.
When selecting a new channel or hitting the "last" key, the screen sometimes zooms and shows only the top left quarter of the screen but consumes the entire screen. I've removed the power plug and rebooted but the problem returns. This occurs on both the recording unit and the non-recording unit with two different brands of TVs. I have replaced one of the non-recording DVR units but now it's occurring on the recording DVR. I must be doing something wrong or there is a bug that hits them all.
With my prior DVR I could skip forward 30 seconds at a time using the F2 key. With the new WH DVR I can only use the FF key at three different speeds plus the 15 minute jump. I would also like the ability to skip 30 seconds as was possible on the earlier DVR. Is this possible? It was a lot easier to use to skip commercials rather than having to watch with my finger on the "play" button.
The non-recording set-top boxes show recorded programs that have already been deleted from the WH DVR. I must them manually delete from from both of my other set-top boxes; an entirely unnecessary task. Why aren't these automatically deleted?
When scheduling a program to be recorded, I am alerted to a "conflict" but am not given the option to see what other dates/times my program is offered. This was available on the prior (non WH DVR) and was very helpful. How can I get this back, it's a real time saver?
The new WH DVR takes quite a few seconds when switching channels. There is a momentary picture, then a blank and finally the channel appears. This is terribly slow and frustrating. I suspect the unit is underpowered. Is there a new model available with a faster CPU?
All suggestions greatly appreciated.

Re: [TV] Questions about Whole House DVR problems and functional
Since none of our DVR gurus replied...sorry about that. I gave them a couple of days hoping that some self help would take place.
1) That's an odd one and I'm looking into it...gonna be a day or two.
3) I am aware of this and its being worked on
4) Unsure at the moment - I have to look into this one
5) Something else is going on...would like to take a peak at your boxes so duplicate this thread in our direct forums and include your IP address so I can pull your account data

Im not familiar with the Motorola boxes but the last complaint sounds awfully similar to the cisco/samsungs when its changing resolutions. Check the settings and see if there are options to change resolutions, if so then only have the 1080I selected and that should clear up the channel changing issue.

Agreed...hopefully he will reply back...
Yes, switching the settings to 1080i from "auto select" solved the very slow channel changing problem.
I also opened a new topic on the "direct" forum.
