 | Videotron disallow Docsis 3 modem on low tiers? I once read that videotron disallows docsis3 modem on dataplan 8M. Does it have any basis? |
|
 | I have personally seen an order (I do not recall if it was an order for a modem swap or for a new connection) rejected due to the modem being DOCSIS 3.

I think he said everything else was fine, so that should include 8/1 Mbit/s (soon 10/1.5 Mbit/s). For obvious reasons, I have no idea if they've changed that. |

 | reply to vientito1 Strange, when I got my basic speed tier end of march I did use an docsis 3 modem. Also I think videotron would go all D3 before 2015 so this doesn't make sense besides a cash grab. Is this new? I wonder if I should worry If I move out of my Apartment I would have to buy a D2 modem just because of that. |

 | reply to grunze510 I can confirm that 2 of our customers with Basic 3M vcable were refused by Videotron to use the Docsis 3 modems |

 | reply to grunze510 I was under the impression that DOCSIS3 was not accepting by Videotron for the 8Mb either but I will dig into this further |

 | reply to vientito1 I am with TekSavvy Cable 8M and I have a Docsis3 modem, the Thomson 475.
Everything is working fine
