<description><![CDATA[rody_44 posted : Around here which is a hurricane sandy area i can get 250 for anything that has a cat and battery in it. Tow truck driver cuts the cat off, removes the battery takes it to the scrap yard where they do the prep work. he gets 100.00 for the cat 9 bucks for the battery as scrap. removes wheels if they are aluminum and he still walks away with 350-400 for the shell with engine in it. Hell i just had a driver pickup a 1989 toyota corolla . He got 450 for it after removing the cat and battery. The guys that come and get these vehicles are NOT the scrap yard. They are just guys driving around making a buck. Cat alone fetches 100.00 here]]></description>

Then price jumps quickly.  Since you will have to get the whole car painted, other wise it will look "unnatural" to the rest of the car. I can get a rear glass for my Taurus (which also has a defroster and antenna) for $350 from the Ford dealer.  That's OEM Carlite glass too.<br><br>Heck, I just went to Safelite and they will put one in a 2001 Impala for $385 and that's for the one with the Onstar antenna.  A used one isn't worth anywhere near that.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[theboz1419 posted : i had a Ford Probe get water into the air intake and stall. Took it to Ford and they had to replace the engine.  My insurance paid 6500 and I paid my deductible of 500 plus I had to pay a betterment charge of 1100 for a new engine, I had 36,000 miles on it.  <br><br>A month later, I received a letter from ford saying there was a recall on my car. They needed to install a water filter on the air intake to keep high standing water from entering the engine risking engine failure. <br><br>Took the letter to the ford dealership that did the work and two weeks later received a full refund on the new engine.  I was very lucky I guess you could say, lol.   ]]></description>

So if you had a $1000 set of tires on the car you should have removed them first. <br><br>Everything else is just the reuse value of the metal and plastic contents. <br><br>Lesson? GET FULL COVERAGE. My 2000 Impala the whole control system for the traction and ABS was shot as well as some special valves.  garages quoted me $3200 to rebuild the system...
