i've checked every half hour for any more drip and nothing has happened. no gas smell either. but I know how I am, i'm still calling my advisor. i'm sure if they do anything they want the tank empty. at the same time, ive learned a lesson about topping off

Well, it could've been just thermal expansion on a fully filled tank.

Are you sure it wasn't leaking out of the gas cap? Neighbor had a BMW that would leak if he overfilled it.
