My daughter ordered a 16GB White iPhone 5 on 11/06 from the local AT&T store. Got notice this on 11/10 that it shipped from China over the weekend and should arrive on 11/13. So the 3-4 weeks was actually ~1 week for her.

I had a similar experience about 3 weeks before. Ordered mine by phone with AT&T on Sunday 9/26 and it was delivered on Thursday 10/5. They quoted me 2-3 weeks.
