[Internet] New Brighthouse user, UBEE modem/router and other que

I just got my Brighthouse service this week (40/5 internet and phone).

If the UBEE unit loses power, it seems to freeze up and not do anything once power is restored unless I do a battery pull or hit the reset button. This just doesn't seem right.

I now have it on a UPS, so it should be fine. But, I am still concerned.

Also, how is RG59 coax in terms of reliability for this application? My house (built 1985) is prewired in every room with it. I have DirecTV and the installers had to do all new RG6 drops to each TV for everything to work.

The Brighthouse installer ran some RG6 but just barreled it into the existing RG59 in the attic that goes to the room where the UBEE is located.

So put me on a highway, and show me a sign.
And take it to the limit one more time...

about the rg59,

Satellite requires it to be changed due to it attenuating the signal at a higher rate than rg6 does. It affects satellite much more because they operate up to 2.4GHZ, Cable only goes to 860MHZ in our markets and 750Mhz in some other markets. The higher the frequency, the faster it attenuates.

With that said, we wire anything new with rg6 but its not required to be changed unless it tests out to be faulty.

Some OLD rg59 is not even shielded in which case it would need changed.. Its not likely the case from 1985, usually thats seen in much older applications then that.
