Blackberry has contested this, and since the firm won't release its methodolgy its launched a complaint with the OSC and SEC to investigate.

Sounds like someone trying to make a buck short selling the stock. It dropped 7% on th news.

There are going to be cheaper ones after the Q10..along the line of the current "Curve". My friend is using one, but, like a good corporate citizen, he refuses to show it to me. The Q10 replaces the BOLD. They need one to replace the Curve still.

He said there will be 6 versions in all. They got an order from [deleted] for [deleted] million units....for the Curve replacement..go figure. But they're estimating sales of [deleted] million over the next year. They expect to be #2 behind Android in [deleted]. They doubt they can overtake Android, but i might be possible. months.

The Mexico-based manufacturer gets paid on the order of $12-15/phone for assembly, so the profit can't be very high. I'm basing that on standard manufacturing costs for phones, about $150 for parts and $12-15 assembly. The average selling price (ASP) of the Z10 is estimated at $505-520, that's the price BlackBerry sells it to the carrier for. The difference between the production cost and ASP is money for Canada, whether that's funding R&D or profit. Sounds like a decent amount of money for Canada.

Agreed. I'll be switching from a BB Bold 9700 so really looking forward to the upgrade!

The only region that would have any significant BB10 sales would be europe (which saw an increase from only a month of sales of the z10 ).. the "North American" region only reflects Canada for the z10

I would not put too much weight in modest numbers in any regions... the next report will be telling

also revenues will go down from Blackberry subscription fees as people adopt the BB10 as it does not require a BIS service

I went from the Curve to the Z10 (work phone) and at first I didn't think I'd like it because of no keyboard, but I'm surprised how much I like it. I'd used a coworker's Bold one day and swore I wouldn't go to a touchscreen. Well, I was wrong. The Z10 touchscreen 'keyboard' feels and works fairly well.

it works and does what i bought it for...isn't that the whole purpose of why you buy it?

and before you think it, i'm no Apple fanboi...i had bad experiences with a couple of junk mp3 players back in the day (that's what started it) so i decided to bite the bullet and buy an iPod nano, despite it being twice the price (albeit, it was a much nicer unit)...had it for about 6 years before it needed to be replaced as the power button wouldn't shut off for some reason (other than that, it worked perfectly)...later on, we bought an iPad as we thought it would be a handy portable complement to our main computers, and my wife uses it every day (i rarely use it, but mostly because i am on the computer already)...the iPad has been great as well (had it about 2 years now)...after mediocre to poor service from a couple of different cell phones in the past 6 years, we picked up a couple of iPhone 5 devices, as we had been quite pleased with our Apple products...again, they have been very good...so, to continue the trend of satisfaction, i recently ordered a new iMac when it came time to replace the computer (should get it in about 2 more weeks)...i don't buy their products for any other reason than they just work very well, especially together (now that we will have a few different iDevices).
