It may take me awhile to be back on track. I was admitted to the hospital Saturday for emergency surgery. I'm tough, though, am already at home recovering, but that means being knocked out for awhile most of the time because of the drugs prescribed to keep me asleep.

I'll be fine, no worries. I'll be back as soon as I'm able.

If I sound loopier than normal, it's the drugs. That's my story ...

When I am able, I have a recovery room story for you.

Prayers offered for a quick and total recovery. Take care of yourself and don't try to rush things. If the doctors say that sleep is what you need, it's sleep that you should get.

Very sorry to hear of this. Around here you're regarded as the SuperLady who never gets sick and always comes to the rescue. Get rest and recuperation, that comes first; Icky will mind the store.

You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Good grief, Sunny!

This is the stuff that the rest of us do, not you!

Get LOTS of sleep, drink plenty of fluids.... Hmmm, maybe lay off the fluids a bit, or you could end of sleeping through needing a trip or two to the bathroom!!!

Anyhoo, take very good care of yourself, and by all means, ENJOY YOUR DRUGS!!!

So far, nothing. I had planned to deal with the leaves on Saturday. So far, I still have a legitimate excuse not to do that.

Yep...anything to procrastinate raking leaves...

Just kidding! Hope that you have a speedy/painless recuperation!

Painless is probably a tall order after open surgery, but recovery without any back steps would be good. I am trying to follow the rules. The squawker I mentioned (I think?) in the hospital was there because she didn't do well at home for some reason after her surgery, so she was back for more to try to fix damage done.

I am gradually able to wait longer between pain pills. I am doing that, but watching closely not to let pain get out of control. This last dose, I cut the pill in half to see if I could control the pain without sleeping absolutely all the time, at least during the day, but I will take the other half if needed to keep pain control.

I have been thinking, since I really haven't taken any serious pain killers before, it is possible I don't need as much to do the job. So I am cautiously testing that theory, realizing it may just be wishful thinking.

I really don't like the drug part much at all. You all may have noticed that.

Hmmm, it seems I didn't mention the "squawker." At first I had the room to myself. Nice. Then they moved a whiner into the room, but the whine sounded more like a chicken squawking to me. The painkillers were trying to force me to sleep, but her perpetual squawks kept jolting me awake.

It was pretty miserable. Maybe I could have tolerated it better had I thought it was actually helping her. I just don't see how.
