Thanks, that must be it. I don't have a valve there but I can shut the house off which will help isolate it to the well side.
The check valve and well are only about a year old. Perhaps some sediment may be jamming it? It's buried under ground so I'll have to dig it up. Perhaps I'll give it a good whack and see if that clears it up.
