[DNS] suddenlink dns preferences get reset regularly

I despise all ISPs' insistence on breaking the Internet functionality by redirecting to the search page when there is a response from the external DNS server that the domain does not exist. I understand their incentives (they get cash for the extra hits), but at the cost of broken functionality for me, the end user (even though many less knowledgeable users don't know and don't care).

However, the purpose of this post is not to discuss that, it has been discussed elsewhere ad nauseam. Rather the problem is in what Suddenlink promises as a substitution: the preferences, where I can disable this (and couple other arguably useful services). Yes, I can specify these preferences: »search.suddenlink.net/prefs.php . However, they (typically, the first preference), - do not stay.
Every so often I do get redirected, and then I find that the first reference is reset. I didn't find any periodicity: sometimes it works for several months; most recently, I had to set it back where I want it ("no") less than a month apart.

I tried to talk to Suddenlink customer service about this, but they are oblivious about that ("You have to set it and it will be that way").

I hope that one of the SL representatives here would read this and escalate this problem to the right team.

Just use Google DNS or Open DNS and you won't have to worry about it anymore. I use Google DNS and have yet to have the problem you posted.
