For the cost of the fluid, gasket, and time... it's cheap peace of mind.<br><br>I change the oil in my differentials, transfer case, and transmission around every 30k. If the axle tubes go underwater, I change the diff fluid. Same with the transfer case. <br><br>I usually use Mobil 1 synthetic gear oil, and just regular ATF+4 for the trans and transfer case.<br><br>So.. In summary... Put in some top quality synthetic and it shifts and runs way smoother.<br><br>Changed the brake fluid and didn't notice anything.<br><br>Power steering, radiator and clutch fluid are next.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[DeltaElite posted : Use a good Synthetic and change it while your thinking about it.<br><br>   I just pulled the bed off of my 2000 Chevy pickup to change the fuel pump and low and behold there sat the pumpkin in plain sight for me too see.....209k miles on the oem fluid.<br><br>    It was not nearly as nasty as I thought it would be.....Luckily I taped a magnet to the bottom when I bought the truck.....Lots of silver mud but no chunks!<br><small>--<br>Protect your right to keep and arm bears!</small>]]></description>

Bought this vehicle earlier this year. <br><br>I would like to change the oil in the rear diff as a preventative measure, but is it really necessary to if you do not use 4WD often?<br><br>Also, what is the recommendation on changing the oil in your diffs?]]></description>
