mLink Thunderbolt chassis

So now (or soon) one can apparently slap in a video card or some other PCIe card and connect it to a closed system via Thunderbolt.

Interesting,…..

Opens up a lot of possiblities. Hopefully Intel will speed up the certification process, because the common refrain seems to be: "it takes forever to get certified"

Indeed,…..

In some cases devices wont receive certification at all and will never hit the open market as a result.

Which would be a shame, especially with something like Thunderbolt. It looks like Intel is doing it's best to kill all innovation on this one.

Well I think that Intel is trying to keep Thunderbolt off of non-Intel platforms which is likely why an Intel video subsystem is a requirement of the spec (for computer systems). This effectively cuts out AMD platforms and any other such platforms.
