What can you buy with $48? Because that's how much you're paying a year to rent the modem from TWC.
Besides, the fee is $4 a month,
now. When have you ever known a cable company not to raise rates? A couple years from now, it might be $5, then $6. Before you know it, people are being charged $10 a month for the modem.
$4 is actually one of the lower modem rental fees that I know of.
