Okay, so when I talked to TWC, they said that they do not limit any ICMP requests at all. Is that what you mean? More than one person told me that - whether their Tier 3 people are wrong, I don't know. Also, in the middle of the night (2-6 or so), there are virtually no timeouts. Maybe one every hour. Also, I do have occasions where the packet loss carries all of the way through, diminishing with each hop, leaving packet loss at he end.
Other data consist of DOS ping tests with a -t parameter left to run over 3 minutes - pings to yahoo.com, download.com, etc. show average packet loss of 5 percent with averages that can be upwards of 1100 ms.
My uncorrectable codewords, if this helps, average 6300; correctable average 600; total at this point around 29 million (not billion).
Last evening, simply trying to load web pages was painful, as it took a very long time between pages. This occurred for all pages, as it does during these times. I have no exact measurement. Is there some way to do that? I had to give up in prime time and quit.
My TWC neighbor (across the street from my home) has the exact issue that I have. He has it happen at the same times that it occurs for me.
On my Roku, I have had problems with (and the list is not inclusive) HBO GO, Amazon Prime, VUDU. I have had the Roku for 5 or 6 months, I just switched ISP's to TWC a few weeks ago. NOt too many problems before switching - many problems (movies stop playing, stuttering, etc) now. I was using the same router at first, then purchased a new one to make certain that the router wasn't the problem (the image the you commented on previously was without any router in the mix, as you know).
As far as our television picture quality, we have daily issues with digital breakup on HD and plain digital. These can occur for quite some time. Also, there seems to be a moire over the top of the screen. When there is action on the screen, there is a field of faint blocks that follows the images. This occurs on HD and digital channels. I have 3 new (last 6 months to three years) televisions, all different brands, all 1080 capable HD, one is a plasma, two are LCD. I have adjusted all of the picture quality filters on all televisions, to no avail.

Edit: (to include) When I raise the level on Ping Plotter to max out the ms, I get 1st hop response times up to 19000 ms. I may also get timeouts at that level.
Edit: (to include 9:47 am 11/14) I am currently getting an average first hop of 581 ms, with a max of 8819 ms and a min of 9 ms over 15 minutes, with 2 persent loss. There is loss on hops 2, 3 , 5, 11, 12. Is that the part that should be disregarded? My speed is currently 6.41 mb down / 5.02 up at the TWC speed test site. I have the 50 / 5 package. |
