Question about downgrading from 150/65

Just had a quick question. I had the 150/65 tier and I downgraded due to $$ budget reasons. I was getting 159/71 on speed tests. Now that I've downgraded to 75/35 I am getting 83/32. I wanted to know why I can't reach my upload speed when I could before on the 150 plan. When I was on 35/35 I was getting 43/32. Never could hit the upload on that plan either.

Also should I use the tcp optimizer tool from speedguidel.net? And if so what settings should I use on it?

Thanks everyone for the help!

That's that thing. When I was on 150/65 I was getting 71 on upload.

Just didn't know if it wasn't applied on the lower tiers.

Apparently it isn't.

I'm on the 50/25 tier and the FIOS speed test has me at 56/35. Don't you get fluff if you subscribe to FIOS TV too?

there are 2 optimizers. one for over 75 and 1 for under. try going in to optimize and there should be an option to unoptimize your computer. run that and reboot. then go in and reoptimize chosing under 75

Doesn't seem like he needs to optimize anything if he was getting 71Mbps upload on the old plan.

As others have said, the fluff on upload for 75/35 just isn't as high (if there is any at all) as the other plans. I've never seen above 35 ~38 on my connection.

Download gets fluffed if you have TV service, although not 50/20. Upload with 25/25 was never fluffed for me, I got 30/25, but going to 50/25, I'm getting (like GreyWhyte) 55/32.

So looks like 25 and 35 upload are both holding at 32 and TV fluffs download 5 to 10%.

VZ has so many different options it's a crapshoot.

You're right.. I remember now that I get 38 on the Verizon test. But getting above 35 on other speed tests is hit or miss. Its not as big of an increase as the fluff on the 150/65 plan.

»New Tiers - The Real Speeds - Check before you updgrade

Here is a thread about the speeds .. VZ insiders are firm most tiers have no fluff on the upload ... since the numbers on upload are not full 1 second data sets, its just an estimate that is easily influenced by low ping times ...

That and this thread explains so much. I never could figure out why I got 154/76 on my 150/65. Not that I'm complaining

I guess if they can deliver like that then they should, because it makes services like cable promising 50mbits and delivering 35 look stupid.
