bchandler02 posted : No, we have not tried a test modem yet. The tech that came out was a line tech/supervisor, not a standard tech in a van. He mentioned that he corrected multiple problems yesterday and wanted to monitor, and he stopped by again today. Still had a few drops overnight, so he said he would continue to check and get a few hub guys involved too. This guy seems to actually be checking and said he hadn't worked on things out here before despite previous techs stating they would turn it over to the line team, so glad to have this guy involved. I have more hope with him than I have in the past.

I also got a call back from a local contact after a highly escalated email. Work continues today.

bchandler02 posted : Yes. But let me clarify. When bypassing the router, I rebooted the modem and connected directly to the PC. Everything was fine for a bit, but then it lost connectivity. The PC would show the yellow ! near the connectivity icon indicating no connection. Disable/renabling the NIC would then result in it not getting an IP, eventually defaulting to a 169 IP.

Today I have noticed the Online light goes from solid to flashing, and later back to solid. This is new and was not occurring this weekend.

CoxTech1 posted : Something I just noticed above, you mentioned that you have to reboot the modem after bypassing the router to obtain an IP address. This is actually normal behavior therefore in itself doesn't indicate a problem. Have you experienced any issues while the router has been bypassed?

bchandler02 posted : Have a new problem that I've never seen before. Today my connection has dropped multiple times, but none of the lights have gone flashing/out on the modem - it looks normal. The only way to fix is to reboot, which only lasts for a little bit.

I removed my router and hardwired directly to the modem to test, and it's not DHCPing me an IP address without a reboot. During this time, I also can't access the internal diagnostics/signal page.

Modem is a DPC3010, signals pasted below. I did notice recently that the firmware had been updated to a July firmware, but now it's back to the May firmware which is what it's had since I got it.

I called Cox and the tech jumped straight to a truck roll, which I declined. After arguing for a few minutes, I got the tech to tell me that while signals look fine, the modem has had hundreds of resets in the last 24 hours. (I haven't been home, so can't verify this). Tech suggested modem may be bad, and truck roll would have to test. Before I go pay them an amount that they couldn't tell me, I'd rather just replace the modem myself, IF that is the problem.

This being a DPC3010, I can't see any log details.

Anyone ever had a problem like this, or can one of the Cox employees take a look at my modem logs and see if it indicates anything?

Signals:
Model: Cisco DPC3010
Vendor: Cisco
Hardware Revision: 1.0
<MAC removed>
Bootloader Revision: 2.3.0_R1
Current Software Revision: DPC3010-v302r12901-110516a-COX
Firmware Name: dpc3010-v302r12901-110516a-COX.bin
Firmware Build Time: May 16 2011 17:09:15
Cable Modem Status: Operational

DS:
Power Level: Signal to Noise Ratio:
Channel 1: -0.2 dBmV 35.9 dB
Channel 2: 0.3 dBmV 38.2 dB
Channel 3: -0.9 dBmV 37.7 dB
Channel 4: -0.8 dBmV 37.2 dB
Channel 5: -0.9 dBmV 37.6 dB
Channel 6: -1.3 dBmV 36.9 dB
Channel 7: -0.8 dBmV 36.8 dB
Channel 8: -1.2 dBmV 36.8 dB

US:
Power Level:
Channel 1: 45.5 dBmV
