Re: FiOS - Ethernet Instead of MoCA!

What do you have to ask for? I called in to support and they insisted on putting me through to billing.

After waiting on hold for 10 minutes, the billing dept informed me that a tech visit would be required costing me a min of $110. When I informed her that I read I could wire it myself she admitted that she was completely unfamiliar with the request.

I only have fios internet and want to do away with the coax run into my living room.

Run the ethernet, connect it up to WAN, leave both ethernet and coax connected, then request switch in the »Verizon Direct forum. When switch is made, router will reboot and pick up new connection.

Except for reboot, you'll have data connection before and after. You can't predict when VZDirect will make the switch, but it will happen.

After reboot, verify WAN connection by checking router main status page. Then you can remove coax connection.

I was replying to a specific scenario.

You're absolutely right that the MoCA LAN is needed to get data to the STB and DVR. But, I have FiOS TV service and don't need the Actiontec.

I don't use FiOS TV hardware, except for a cablecard and a DCT-700, neither of which are data-enabled.

Ah sorry, didnt see the post you replied to.
But the intent was more for others reading, who likely have TV as well.
