I would have a pet battle boss you have to use your pets to fight him. I would have a vehicle encounter where you ride tricycles and have to pedal by alternating between the right and left mouse buttons. I would have a junk food boss where yo have to plant seeds and grow vegitables to throw at him. And my last fight of my raid would require 8 tanks and two healers (20 tanks 5 healers on 25 man).
Of course to get into my raid you would have to dailes for at least 2 months plus a quest chain.

i would like to have an alliance system in wow (multiple guilds under the same group) and then to have a raid that allows the seperate groups of the alliance to start at different entrances to the raid. 4 x 10 man groups (or even 4 x 25 man groups) think of a naxx style layout and each group from the alliance starts at a different wing. when each wing is complete, there would be a central boss where the alliance can fight as one. an idea for a boss could be a fight against ALL the city leaders. when defeated, the alliance gets a title along the lines of "alliance of azeroth". this idea could also help those that want 40 man raids back and if it was to be done with groups of 25, 100 man raid groups!! (lag city! haha)

I remember playing a single match of AV that lasted over 3 days... reports of matches not concluding between server resets. Ah the good old days.

AV in its original form was all about fighting in the Field of Strife(the middle) and gathering resources to summon your faction's BG god for alliance it was Ivus the Frost Lord who would beat the shit out of the other faction. You also helped your flying commanders escape the opposing faction's towers so they could give bonus honor and open up quests.

These matches were awesome and lasted for hours, I remember one match I zoned into played four hours then went to bed slept about 8 hours got up, showered, ate breakfast and logged on and the same match was going on.

Imagine a DnD style encounter, where Blizzard allowed both players and DMs. In other words. Encounter would always be different. The raid group would have a rating and the "DM" would have a rating. Lower ranked groups would go against lower ranked DM's. There would be no cookie cutter strat. The DM would choose the encounters, plus the level of the creatures, his attacks and defenses. Would make a MMROPG more of a DnD style enciounter which would be tghe tits inho.

So you would be referring to AV in it's original form.

I must have not seen its "original" form. It was always a speed run to kill NPCs... being alliance, the best approach for Horde was to turtle it at our second NPC.

Backstory-
I would make a raid based in the spirit realm. The main antagonist can be some creature from the Nether that was dispatched by the heroes is now causing havoc. The patch would add a new zone which would have two versions. The regular realm would have the quest hubs and dailies associated with it, but there would be an ominous fortress that is inaccessible. In order to gain entry, the heroes must kill themselves in which they will “awaken” as a spirit form at their same location. (Sorry Nelfs, no wisps). The new world will be a twisted form of the same zone, only instead of the grayish tones, there will be lighter color pallets. The heroes would be able to traverse the fortress, eliminating foes on their way to the antagonist.

Bosses-
1) Loathing (Gear-Check Boss) – This will test tank mitigation, raid healing, and dps
a. Abilities / Mechanics
i. Smash – Hits for major damage that will one-shot any DPS. Tank must take it or it will kill a random raider. This will require healers to keep tanks alive.
ii. Short Enrage timer – DPS must go hard or go home. Expect that enrage timer is hit every time with only a 15 second window.

2) Fear (Mechanics Boss) -This boss will test the raids ability to move as a group, coordinate and position properly
a. Abilities / Mechanics
i. Fears tanks every x seconds, forcing tanks to be ready to taunt
ii. Cleave – will require tanks to get back into position and keep boss facing away from melee
iii. Void zones – melee must move around boss as small void zones spawn around boss one at a time, no more than 1 up at a time. Tanks must try to keep voids at boss sides in order to allow melee to dps from behind
iv. Void zones – ranged must move from void zones placed under every ranged every x seconds
v. Random Fears on all others – just because

3) Gluttony (Low/Lack of healing Boss) – This boss will test the raid’s ability to maintain resources
a. Abilities / Mechanics
i. Consumption – the boss slowly consumes players resources requiring dps to be frugal, stay out of danger, and tanks to swap with CD’s as healers will be short on mana

4) Lust – This boss will test the raid makeup as there are two groups
a. Abilities / Mechanics
i. Raid must split into two groups in which they will race to clear trash to finish. The winning group has a better loot table.
ii. This is mostly speed trash runs with the end point a door which the dps must break down while the tank holds off additional waves of enemies. The winning group gets loot incentive.

5) Agony – This will be role swap fight similar to Dreamwalker in ICC
a. Abilities / Mechanics
i. Swap – Healing and DPS are reversed for this fight. Melee must keep tanks alive by damaging them, while ranged must keep healers up. Healers will damage the boss through healing.
ii. Tank drain – top five on threat will have their live gradually drain away, requiring the DPS to keep them up.

6) Temptation - Adds Boss with greed check
a. Abilities / Mechanics
i. Standard tank swap fight with multiple adds that spawn
ii. All adds always drop an unknown item that either boosts dps and healing, rewards individuals gold and personal items (smaller chances), or kills them instantly with a targeted boss ability.
iii. Difficult enrage timer that if players boosted, becomes easy.

7) Boss 7 – serious wall of text

8) Pride - 2 Mob fight, 1 boss w/ 1 chaser
a. Abilities / Mechanics
i. Highest equipped ilvl character is always chased
ii. After a chase, character is debuffed, lowering their ilvl by 20
iii. Tanks and healers can be chosen as well as dps.
iv. Highest DPS / Threat and Healing done are debuffed as well. The higher the disparity, the greater the debuff.
v. Fight will require all players to contribute equally.

9) Purgatory – Long monotonous Fight – with lots of movement (Think Sindrigosa)
a. Abilities / Mechanics
i. Stacking debuffs on tanks that increases damage taken, causing them to swap
ii. Random players are marked then incapacitated
iii. It takes players to stop dpsing (think bandaging someone) to bring back incapacitated players.
iv. Marked players must spread out or cause more players to gain debuff
v. Random zones on the ground that incapacitate players as well.

10) Death – Final Boss – this fight is about coordination and precision
a. Abilities / Mechanics
i. First Realm – Death (current)
1. Players can not die, but healing/threat/damage will be reduced by 90% if at 1 health in this realm
2. Resurrecting players in this realm sends them to the living realm
ii. Second Realm – Life
1. Players that die in this realm are sent back to the Death realm
iii. Players will move between two realms through death and resurrection.
iv. Group will all start in Death realm, and 1 tank and 1 healer will be sent to Life realm shortly into the fight.
v. During this time the boss will mostly phase to the Live realm
vi. Healers must Rez additional DPS to split the raid.
vii. Threat and DPS must maintain equal levels to keep boss split between realms
viii. If boss moves to full live realm, all in death realm die.
ix. If boss moves to full life or death realm, it gains health and damage.
x. As the boss gets lower and lower, DPS gain increased damage causing more dps to be on living side as the fight progresses. All players must finish the fight in the live realm except the last one. A sacrifice. (Tank)

You know what here's an idea that would work with my huge raid idea

ok after you've cleared the 1st part of the raid (ie the tower) there would be a raid entrance that would become available to you, it'd be a 4way-3d-chess/BG, and by making it available you'd be able to use something to tell the horde your ready and to send their raid there too.

on one side is your ally raid
on another side a horde raid
The faction leaders would be fighting an evenly matched battle each leader paired with an opposing faction leader on different platforms.

you'd have to kill elite old god minions to activate the portals to get to the higher levels.

all the while having to move per the rules of chess

then have the burning legion and the old gods fighting

then you have faceless ones littering the board

then for a bit of fun Sheldon cooper on the top platform wielding the sword of azeroth.

Then each time you kill an opposing faction leader your faction leader that had been fighting with them would help.

the chess raid would be available in 10/25 and 40man raid.

maybe not... but do you think they could take the RBG model and tweak it for your liking? It's like a beafed up Alterac Valley, only you are meeting in the middle rather than trying to pass each other to kill some NPC.

In the huge raid I mentioned the last boss of part 1 would be a 4way chess game.

you'd have some faceless ones on one side, horde on another, ally on another, and then you.

you could team up with your faction, or the other faction but if its not your faction they might betray you.

Personally, I find this intriguing, challenging. WhatIf - a group of alliance were running this raid, and actually squaring off against a group of horde that were running this raid - not a PvP thing, but just co-mingled for this one boss. There would never (?) be a set way to beat this boss, because the human variable would always be in place, literally a chess match.

edit - in the time it took me to respond to Dark's suggestion of the chess match, others came up with the same scenario.
Really liking that one.

Kinda like that one place that has a chess board. I can't recall it, I just recall playing chess with my kids there vs the mob side.

I have always wanted a raid that you were competing against a guild of the opposite faction. Granted this would be ridiculously hard to design and create i think it would be something this game could use to bring back server competitions. Granted servers would also have to be wayyyyy more balanced. It would involve pvp and pve aspects.

Say the actual leaders of each respective faction are not being punks in their capital city, but in a war of all out chaos.

Basically both an alliance raid and a horde raid start on opposite ends of a battlefield flanking the opposing army. there would be trash everywhere the entire time the are progressing trough the battlefield. Fighting waves off normal and elite mobs. Eventual there would be some war general(I have no idea what name would be used, I don't follow lore very closely). The ultimate goal would be to flank through the battlefield to get to the actual faction leaders fighting. The ultimate goal would be to kill the faction leaders in battle. Obviously as the opposing raids get to the middle, they will encounter one another. There would have to be a fine balance of controlling the opposing pvp forces, as well as balancing the Faction Leaders. This could be like an AV on crack hell maybe it would make a better battle ground. I have always thought that this would be the ultimate fight in the game.

Obviously the chances of anything like this ever happening would be zilch, but I've always thought it would be a rad idea.

I'd like to see a raid version of the August Celestials daily rep grind... but not limited to that faction.

I'd like to see a raid that takes the ultimate battle of each MoP faction as its theme/storyline. It would have a darkmoon faire type lockout. To get access to the raid, every raider would have to be exalted with the faction related to the current version of the raid, and have completed the quest chains that close out their stories. So, the first one would probably be Klaxxi.

Once you've built a raid (10m or 25m), the raid leader flies to the Klaxxi city and speaks to one of the huge bug council members with a special quest marker over his head (Let's say a purple "!"). When he accepts the quest, everyone in the raid gets a "readycheck" to confirm... and once all are ready, they get a special action button that will start the intro/cutscene. The cut-scene will introduce the theme of the current raid... for the Klaxxi you are invited to pledge allegiance to their god. When you arrive to your deep destination deep underground, you and your Klaxxi escort are greeted by an emissary of the old god... who then dismisses the Klaxxi escort. After some blah, blah, blah you discover that you have to prove your loyalty to the old god by killing your faction leader (or something of the sort)... that's when you kill the first raid boss, the emissary of the old god. This fight is tuned liberally so that any competent raid with the requisite rep is rewarded with a VoA/BH style encounter. Once past that boss encounter, the raid "discovers" a portal maintained by a Klaxxi who favors "the Wakeners" and does not trust the old god (this is how you re-enter after wipes without tipping off the Klaxxi that you are now trying to prevent the awakening of their god.)

The rest of the storyline will carry through 6 more bosses broken up in 2 "wings". Since the raid lockout is several weeks, your Klaxxi ally will create a new portal after each boss is killed. The "trash" is actually interrupting "ritualists" working to revive the old god. All boss fights will be multiple target fights (Klaxxi)... so we'd see a 4horsemen(Naxx2.0) style fight, AQ40 princes fight, Fathomlord (SSC) fight, Blood Princes (ICC), and a Anub (TotC) fight. The final fight would be a Council fight against sentient sha fragments who seek to merge themselves in an attempt to awaken the old god.

Once you've cleared these 6 bosses (and prevented the awakening of the Klaxxi god), your Klaxxi ally reveals himself to be one of the celestials who seeks to maintain balance. He tells your raid not to explose what took place in there to the Klaxxi... and offers to vouche for your commitment to their god. This raid cannot be repeated until the next time it comes around in the rotation some 2 months later.

So, I don't worry too much about what mechanics make a fight fun... but I really like a good story. ICC had a good story... but since we were doing it twice a week forever.... it would have been awesome to turn off a lot of the RP, lol. If the raid simply wasn't available on such a regular basis, I think the RP would feel pretty epic.
