Hello All and Thank You.

My friend purchased a can of compressed air and was able to easily remove all traces of the gum by picking the frozen pieces off using a razor knife.

End of story!!! He is very happy and pleased with your assistance.

Canned air, the stuff they use to clean computers with may work as well. I've noticed the can gets pretty cold when using it. As do the boards I'm spraying with the air.

That's what I was referring to. You turn it upside down but keep your fingers clear of the blast.

Once again thanks to all that have provided suggestions. I have sent a link to this forum to my friend and will let you know how his project goes.

Is a person a failure for doing nothing? Or is he a failure for trying, and not succeeding at what he is attempting to do? What did you fail at today?.

Compressed can air turned upside down will freeze it, scrape it up before it thaws. There shouldn't be any stain from it.

Thank you all for the ideas and suggestions.

I can remember my Mother using, I believe, Carbon Tetrachloride back when I was a kid to remove it from our clothes and even hair.

I doubt that one can even buy that stuff anymore!!

The version of that today would be the product from CRC and others for aerosol brake cleaning. It contains Tetrachloroethylene which is a relative of "Carbon Tet" as we used to call it.

It does a nice job cleaning things, and will not leave a residue, however it does also leave a lingering smell.

I don't think so. It's a teratogen.

DO NOT use WD-40 to remove anything on the inside of your car. It will smell up the thing for the next 6 months...

Use the freezing method, it is the least abusive to the carpet and works well about 99% of the time on the first try.

A friend of mine picked up some Chewing Gum on one of his shoes and then stepped into his new car and without knowing it and managed to transfer some of the Gum to his new carpet.

Does anyone know of a method of removing Gum from a carpet. He also lives in Florida so even though it is not as hot presently it is certainly warmer than here in St. Louis.

This just happened so it has not been sitting for a long period of time.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Zach
