The Niagara Escarpment is nowhere near where the event will be held. It's going to be in the area of Victoria Park and Murray Hill right in the tourist core of the falls between the river and the back of Casino Niagara. Even though it's not the escarpment, it will still be one hell of an event.
Is the Niagara region cold enough to support an outdoor event like this on Dec 1st? In Quebec City, it's done during Carnival, isn't it? At least then they can be reasonably sure it's going to be cold enough for the ice to be frozen and hard. Unless there is a refrigeration system on the track, I'm wondering how are they going to keep it frozen for the event. -- All of us get lost in the darkness, dreamers learn to steer by the stars All of us do time in the gutter, dreamers turn to look at the cars - Peart / Lifeson / Lee Join Team Helix
I'm sure they'll make it work. They'll probably just refrigerate the track the same way they keep the outdoor skating rinks near the falls operational during our warm-by-Canadian-standards winter.
Yikes.....there's a big difference between refrigerating an ice pad for skating (or the Winter Classic) and doing a 500m+ long elevated track. That's ambitious, to be sure. -- All of us get lost in the darkness, dreamers learn to steer by the stars All of us do time in the gutter, dreamers turn to look at the cars - Peart / Lifeson / Lee Join Team Helix
"net" of HDPE piping, then pump in chilled glycol, the track will be an ice cube. Similar to how ice rinks are done now. -- AFK: Attack, fight, kill!! The healer is telling you to go pull mobs. WTF: Way to fight! The healer is applauding your tactical genius
