Thank you all for the ideas and suggestions.

I can remember my Mother using, I believe, Carbon Tetrachloride back when I was a kid to remove it from our clothes and even hair.

I doubt that one can even buy that stuff anymore!!

The version of that today would be the product from CRC and others for aerosol brake cleaning. It contains Tetrachloroethylene which is a relative of "Carbon Tet" as we used to call it.

It does a nice job cleaning things, and will not leave a residue, however it does also leave a lingering smell.
