 | [TWC] Bought Used Motorola SB5101 for TWC, NO Network Access Long story short,
Bought used Motorola SB5101 to avoid monthly modem rental fee.
Called in to submit MAC ID, modem model, rep said everything OK.
Turned on Modem, Send/Receive light blinking with Power/PC Activity light on, NO ONLINE light.
Checked modem IP config, (192.188....somthing)
Status: Everything DONE Modem: Operational Signal: has live Downstream/Upstream signals
I called in again, rep told me its due to outage in Queens, NY since 11/11/12, which is bullllcrap, my old RCA was working to the last minute(11/14/12) before I submitted the new modem MAC ID.
What is going on?
Who has the same issue. |

Go to the modem configuration page (192.168.1.100); Go to the "Configuration" tab; Click on "Restore Factory Defaults"; Finally, click on "Restart Cable Modem" |
|
 | I tried reset/restart, restar/reset, reset, restart, power off in all sequences. no go
pulling my hair. |
|
 | reply to AHSQ Might be an issue with the modem. I would never buy a used cable modem for that reason. |
|
 | reply to AHSQ Call TWC and troubleshoot, might be a problem on their side. |
|
 | called lv 3 guy, guy said its due to area outtage. total bs. the old modem was working until I gave the new MAC ID. |

|
 | They took out the old MAC ID and then added the new.
I am not going back to rental modems, that is ridiculous |
|
 | reply to AHSQ If you haven't returned the equipment it's still on your account and would be a quick switch. |
|
 | it might be a quick switch, but due to the incompetence of the customer care. I aint going back on the rental list.
greed prevail us all, shame on twc. |

greed prevail us all, shame on twc. Are you getting a public IP on the device connected to the modem? What are the first 3 numbers of it?
Something like a DHCP server outage would cause your new modem not to work, even if your old modem had just been working.
BTW, if the send light is blinking with the downstream and power lights solid, yet no online light, the modem isn't online yet. It's not done syncing. Post the logs and signal levels of the modem too. »192.168.100.1 -- If it's important, back it up... twice. Even 99.999% availability isn't enough sometimes. |
