Try the following - it worked for me:
Go to the modem configuration page (192.168.1.100);
Go to the "Configuration" tab;
Click on "Restore Factory Defaults";
Finally, click on "Restart Cable Modem"
I tried reset/restart, restar/reset, reset, restart, power off in all sequences. no go
pulling my hair.
