The unit works fine running on the Power Charger..However, the battery is so dead that the Bios and Windows reports 'Battery Not Present'. Is that an indication of just a really dead battery or does it mean that there are other issues with the laptop? Many thanks -- A meeting is an event at which the minutes are kept and the hours are lost.

 | Most probably dead, happens to all eventually, especially if the battery were not properly conditioned.
In the meantime, check the contacts on both battery and the laptop. It might just be a matter of dirty or broken contacts. |

Try at your own risk. =D |

 | reply to playbl162 It's probably dead. Really dead batteries can do weird things. A friend of mine had an Inspiron 1000 that refused to complete POST with the original battery installed. Once I removed it, it worked fine. He got a generic battery on eBay and it worked fine with that. -- KI6RIT |
