danf join:2005-11-10 Abbotsford, BC | New service questions I am an exiting Telus dry dsl customer, and my contract should expire in the next month or so.
I'm getting conflicting information from Telus's website, so I don't even know if 25mbit is available in my area. I know for sure about a year ago it wasn't. It looks like it might be now.
I can't use cable, as my cable that runs from my house to the street is damaged (buried underground) - I've had two Shaw techs tell me this, and the service for TV was so crappy I cancelled all services with Shaw.
My main question is, how do I find out if Teksavvy can service my area... the website doesn't seem to do anything when I fill in the page that checks availability.
Another major factor is I need a bridged modem. I've set up and wired my house in a specific way, and using another all in one modem is not an option for me (I currently use the Thomson speedtouch modem.) I see the ALU modem is listed but I can't seem to find that modem to buy anywhere. Are the other modems configurable to bridge mode? (The Zyxel or the Actiontec? I know the Actiontec isn't on Telus's network.)
So from what I understand, there's the monthly fee, the dry loop fee, and a one-time modem fee? Are there any other charges to set up a new account?
It looks like I'll need the unlimited plan (I game online & netflix.)
Is there anything else I missed? |

If you like to post in the » TekSavvy Direct forum your information, we'll take a look.
As for price wise, what you mentioned should basically cover it.
For the Zyxel modem you should be able to setup in Bridge, but not certain about the actiontec.
