Agreed! Just trying to find some way out of this mess! Likely needs a reinstall....

Ugh, the Recovery Console just gets me to a C:\ prompt!! Not real helpful in this situation....

Have you tried going to a command prompt and:

runas /user:localmachinename\administrator regedit

It should allow you to run regedit as the Administrator user with full privileges.

(You could also run cmd this way .. I'd probably try launching rstrui.exe to do a system restore with %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe)
