The same civilians who voted in Hamas when they were given a free vote on the subject? They don't sound so innocent to me.
The only reason Hamas is popular in Gaza is because they promised to kill more Jews than Fatah in the West Bank. Hamas would have free reign in Gaza if not for their incessant desire to exterminate the Jewish people. Gaza itself could be prosperous and peaceful, if Hamas would let it be, but it chooses not to.
Hamas also has no problem killing civilians. In fact, they want to kill as many civilians as possible. Hamas also hides its rocket launching facilities in dense population centers to deter this kind of response. Perhaps if these areas were leveled, then the remaining civilian might think twice about supporting a movement that is so hell-bent on exterminating the Jewish people that it is willing to sacrifice its own people to do it.
Why do you think Israel doesn't attack or invade Jordan or Saudi Arabia? It is because these countries do not attack Israel.
War is hell, and it is something that should be avoided, but when someone chooses to bring war to you, you have to decimate them, or else they will continue bringing war to you and killing your people. If the children of Gaza die because of this, so be it. All the terrorists in Gaza today all started out as children. Might as well nip the problem in the bud.

And again, this is war. Perhaps if Hamas is so worried about its civilian population, then it should stop using them as human shields.

Tulsa, OK | Foreign Aid is all about influence. Some of it military, some of it political, some of it economic.
Honestly, we can't afford it and need to drastically downsize our foreign bases and operations.
We can't fix everything.
That being said, supporting Israel is a no-brainer.

Anyone who indiscriminately launches rockets against a putative "military occupation" but cares not about said rockets hitting schools, libraries, malls, hospitals or other civilian soft targets is a savage.
