Re: To Blur or Not to Blur I think the photo needs something to make it interesting. I have a hard time with this kind of image and wonder what message you are trying to get across to the viewer. Fall foliage, mountains, or even great light would make it more interesting. |

I think I've succeeded somewhat, and hope others will try. At this point I'm interested in the technical, not the artistic. |

mhhackPremium join:2005-03-29 kudos:3 | The kind of thing I'm after is here: »/showpic/dimag···6317&1=1. You can see that the DOF is in inches. I think this can be done in PS. If successful it can make a good image even better. |

SueSPremium join:2007-05-16 Macon, MO kudos:2 | How can one get all the little circles caused by the aperture blades? Look at the edges of the posts that are blurred and the trees, I say it is not possible to do that. These are the things that make the bokeh wonderful in my opinion. If it were possible to do this with software the camera companies would not be selling very many fast lenses. |

| reply to mhhack You might want to look at Topaz Lens Effect »www.topazlabs.com/lenseffects/
It's a plug-in that can be used with PS or PSP. It's very powerful and offers one click solutions with the ability to adjust the result as well as creating a detailed depth map. I believe it can do what you are looking for but I'm not proficient enough with it to duplicate the effect you linked to. -- Do Not Meddle In The Affairs of Dragons. . .for You Are Crunchy and Good With Ketchup!!
