A6-4400m or A8-4500m

So i'm looking to get a new laptop and have picked out two units, one with an A6-4400m APU and one with an A8-4500m.

Hardware spec between the two of them are exactly the same except for the APU.

Price difference is the A8 is about $80 more expensive than the A6.

Does the performance of the A8 warrant an extra $80? Or should I just get the A6 and use the $80 to add more memory?

A8-4500M will win hands down. More cores(2 more cores than A6.), more cache memory(another 3MB L2 cache), same watt usage, Has a better graphics HD7640G.

You will say "but it has more Frequency". In this case. Cache plays a major role. Making the A8-4500M faster than A6-4400M

What are you planning on using the laptop for?

Mainly I do development on web apps, although my focus is more on the Db side of the applications versus the actual application code. The db's themselves aren't too large (in the low millions of rows) yet.

I take really rare jaunts into gaming, and I don't mind taking the settings down to low if I have to. I usually see what few games I have installed maybe once or twice a month.

Hmm... I didn't notice the additional cache memory.

Thanks for pointing that out!
