| Jewel Crafting/Alchemy: Elixir of ogre's strength I've been trying to buy the recipe in the AH, but haven't seen it pop up yet. Also tried buying some of the elixirs in the AH, but they aren't posted.
I tried grinding for the recipe to drop, but have been using non-alchemy toons. Will it still drop for them? Reason why I need it, is so I can advance jewel crafting on a toon of mine. The other option is to build the more "expensive" jewelry items, I guess [more expensive because they require more mats then the one that requires the ogre strength elixirs]. -- Is a person a failure for doing nothing? Or is he a failure for trying, and not succeeding at what he is attempting to do? What did you fail at today?. |

Learn Alchemy Expert.
140-155 15 x {Lesser Mana Potion} - 15 Mageroyal, 15 Stranglekelp
Make {Fire Oil} if you don't have {Stranglekelp} or if {Firefin Snapper} is cheap. You could also make more {Healing Potion}.
155-175 20 x {Greater Healing Potion} - 20 Liferoot, 20 Kingsblood
If you made {Fire Oil}, you can use it to make {Elixir of Minor Accuracy}
175-185 10 x {Mana Potion} - 10 Stranglekelp, 10 Kingsblood
Make more {Greater Healing Potion} if you don't have Stranglekelp.
185-205 20 x {Elixir of Agility} - 20 Stranglekelp, 20 Goldthorn
or
25 x {Elixir of Fortitude} - 25 Wild Steelbloom, 25 Goldthorn
If you don't have that many Goldthorn, make {Mana Potion} or {Lesser Invisibility Potion} up to around 195. These recipes will be yellow.
If you don't have any Goldthorn at all, you can make {Nature Protection Potion} between 190-215, the recipe is sold by these vendors. that recipe you mentioned shows as a lvl150 recipe on wowhead. -- Guild leader of Pride and Ego (US:Nathrezim) Good times with Great people in the Best way to spend $15/mo.

| dude... I totally failed at reading comprehension... my bad. You need this Elixer for JC craft.

Learn Jewelcrafting Expert.
150-180 45 x {Mithril Filigree} - 90 Mithril Bar
Save these, you will need 45 of them later.
180-185 8 x {Solid Stone Statue} - 80 Solid Stone
185-200 15 x {Engraved Truesilver Ring} - 15 Truesilver Bar, 30 Mithril Filigree
Using ore and stone might be better since you can directly farm that stuff.
Again, very sorry for the total misread. -- Guild leader of Pride and Ego (US:Nathrezim) Good times with Great people in the Best way to spend $15/mo.

| No problem, thks for the assist. I just spent 4 to 5 hours killing bloodfist ogres in duskwood. I got plenty of green items to drop, even one blue. But my fingers are sore and it's late. So maybe I'll try again tomorrow. I have three miners in my stable. 2 are high enough that they can fly and mining mithril ore/stones isn't a problem. -- Is a person a failure for doing nothing? | The ogres in Duskwood are at the low end of the level range that can drop the recipe (~22-27). Mobs in Northern STV or farming Blackfathom Deeps might give you a better shot if you're dead set on the recipe.
Alternatively, you might see if anyone else in your guild has the recipe. -- When the ship lifts, all bills are paid. No regrets. |

stvnbrsPremium join:2009-03-17 Cary, NC kudos:5 | reply to Snakeoil Just leveled JC on my DK (along with mining which suuuucked). You do not need the alchemy recipe. If you do it right and extend some of your levels with cheap yellow recipes, you can actually make money (depending on your server). An example is at 325 wow-professions.com tells you to make 10x Mercurial Adamantite which is stupid expensive. By cutting more gems that they suggest at the 320 level you can cut into the levels in which you will require the Adamantite (requires 100 Adamantite dust which is expensive as it is a mat produced by prospecting Adamantite.
Mithril is easy to farm with Burning Steppes, Badlands and Felwood being the typical locations. TBH, you shouldn't have much of a problem until you run into TBC, which for me was the hardest to farm my own mats due to limited availability of nodes and just sheer number of players farming as well. -- Goggalor: "Freedom of speech is not freedom of asshattery." |

Looking at the big picture, you are probably paying MORE for the 'less expensive' route than you would using the more expensive items. The 4-5 hours of game play didn't advance your professions at all. In that same time you could have farmed gold on your highest level toon and bought all the mats you needed to advance past this roadblock. -- I'd take the time to insult your intelligence but you probably wouldn't get it. |
