 | Walking dead unwatchable The pixelization really needs to get fixed. A little here and there is one thing, but when a show is unwatchable it is beyond frustrating, come on. |
|
 | I was told that it's a HD outage area wide (Cleveland). Are you in the Cleveland area? |
|
 | Actually yes, but I'm not having issues on other networks that I noticed, but just flipped through a few to check. Was it only AMC?
I hope the 10pm replay is fine. |

| No, they told my neighbor that it's all HD. Although, not all of his HD channels are reacting the same way. BTW, he had to wait 90 minutes to get a rep and they had him unplug, check all connections, etc. Why would that be necessary for an area wide outage? I don't get cable at all! |
|
 | reply to hudiat Just started trying to watch off DVR (start late so I can skip commercials) and yeah... pretty much unwatchable. Oh well. Will just wait until about 10:15 and torrent it illegally.
Oh and I'm in the Columbus area. |

| Wait 90 minutes then either they did all the other crap it didn't work and they made up the outage. Or there is an outage and they still did all that for no reason.
So a year ago when I started saying wow was starting to go downhill sacrificing customer service for expansion every jumped on me for just being one case,
Now you can't get anyone on the phone, pixelating is a network wide issue for months, they upgrade their whole billing system apparently at random without training or testing it first.
Can any one honestly their service and support is better now than 1 year ago? |

| No, you were and are right. It's difficult when only one or two people call; it makes them look like "troublemakers."
I actually had that happen, too. My family switched (very briefly) to Time Warner, and we then longer for the "good old days" back at WOW, warts and all. However, my internet speeds are in the basement every single evening, and the pixelization is, at times, severe.
Don't get me wrong, I sincerely believe that, for the most part, WOW "means well." I just don't think that they are truly fully aware, such as in my area, how bad the issues can be for us. Again, if people don't call... well... |
|
 | reply to hudiat Also, it's some of my reg. def. channels, as well. The "Jewelry Channel" is one of a handful. |
|
 | reply to hudiat In the Columbus area here and getting horrible artifacting all night, even after switching to the non-HD channel.
I don't watch much TV, but this is absolutely unacceptable. |

| reply to kpossible It's not the issues, it's the putting customer service 2nd and still trying to say they have great service. They could have spent more on this upgrade, tested more, implemented in phases, and look at hold times and support through this honestly way too long process for a software upgrade. They put expansion and growth of the company ahead of customer service. They have their own network issues with video, and instead of focusing on that, buy knology and broad stripe. Putting growth ahead of current customer service. I get it, I just hate they try to feed us this great service and that's the wow way crap while they still don't make customer service a priority. If they want to be a major player in the industry do it and act like them, it's just that they still think they are providing the service they used to while growing, they are blind to the fact it is not the same. I mean sure I may be labeled a "troublemaker" to them, but 10 years of never having issues, no techs needing to come out, and then the last year has been nothing but issue after issue. |

| For me, it's the issues, as well as "We are the JD Power's Number One."
I believe that if you are paying for something... anything... that you need to find value in it. So, if say, for Joe Smith, that means his cable operates at 80%, that's his value. That's not not mine, for sure, but I think that consumers have been conditioned to accepting a downward sliding scale. So, again, there are simply not enough "complainers" or strength in numbers these days.
Believe me, if you had any idea how far up the ladder I have gone to try to get this resolved, you'd be mystified. But, there's either not enough negative feedback or the company doesn't care any longer.
I do agree with your points, as well. |

 | Now, regular, old Cinemax (not HD) is super wonky. I am attempting to watch "Bridesmaids," but it's a no go. Digital breakup... someone should write a song. |

anobix join:2010-03-01 Columbus, OH | reply to hudiat comedy central is also really bad right now. it looks like the network stations are OK (having no issues watching the Baltimore/Pittsburgh game) |
|
 | reply to hudiat Same issues for me in Columbus also. A&E was practically unwatchable it was so pixilated. Same with a few other channels I tried so I gave up and turned on the Apple TV. It seems like it was getting bad all weekend. I noticed the same issues during the OSU game yesterday, but it was clearly worse tonight.
Very frustrating ! |

 | reply to hudiat Getting some moderate to severe pixelation on channel 227 (TLC HD) on Breaking Amish.
I forget... how do I check the signal level that the cable box is reporting on this channel? |

| No idea on a wow box. On my tivo its in settings, and I am getting fantastic to near perfect signal. That plus everyone else having issues indicates it is a wide spread issue on their end.
For what its worth my tivo doesn't say the exact signal level but rather a % and I am at 100% signal, and a 38SNR, which is pretty ideal. |
|
 | reply to hudiat Now I just lost several channels... 223, 225, 226, 227, 228, 230, 231, and some others...
Guess it's time to give Time Warner a call... |
|
 | DON'T. It's going from the on-fire frying pan to the frying pan that caught the entire house on fire. |

| I don't even have a choice. It's WOW or uverse. Uverse wants $30 more a month for less, won't work with tivo, slower internet speeds, etc.
My neighbor has time warner, but they say I can't get it. I really really hope google's interest in Fiber/TV/Cellular pans out well over the next few years. They are actually innovating. Their Fiber network for TV/1Gbps internet is less than my current wow bill. A provider that financially benefits from users actually using the service rather than being subscribed is a fantastic thing for consumers. The more you use your connection the more they make, it is in their best interest to have everyone have a reliable solid fast connection.
If they partner with dish and offer unlimited LTE and dish TV at a reasonable cost, that would be game changing for the industry. My current LTE from ATT I get 35 down 10up with a 60ping at home, as compared to 30down 3up with a 30ish ping from WOW. Google has the money/experience/geniuses working there, that I bet they could drastically improve upon what current carriers offer in both speed and reliability. They already have the infrastructure to handle massive amounts of data moving through their network at once. |
|
 | reply to kpossible Was about to say everything is working better, then I lose all TV.
edit: all HD except locals. |
