I am NOT in Toronto. I am using the Toronto server for speed testing purposes, which is what you should be doing, since all web traffic that originates from TSI customers passes through Toronto. In order to get optimal ping and speed, you must use a Toronto server. Look to the left of this paragraph, and you'll see in which province I reside.

Sorry about that
But why the test server should be one in Toronto km away and not the one closest to my home

When doing your test in Montreal...

It goes Home > Toronto > Some other company test server in Montreal

You add much more distance by testing in Montreal as it need to go to Toronto & back to Montreal

When doing the test from Toronto

It goes Home > Toronto > TekSavvy test server in Toronto

This reduces the length data must travel to get the result.

Often, I get better results using the FibreNoire server here in Montreal than Teksavvy's own speedtest.net server, for some odd reason.

For example this Sunday I was having online gaming issues. After swearing at Teksavvy as a Speedtest with their server in Toronto showed only 10 MB/s out of my 30 MB/s connection, the next test done on Fibrenoire gave me my expected 30 MB/s. Makes me wonder if the Teksavvy test server at speedtest.net wouldn't have congestion issues

I am a cable customer for a week.

I see no congestion in Laval.

I am on the 3M profile:
