Re: Black Friday Upon Us

What is the point of NCIX price matching, they dont beat the price???

Customer loyalty plans, maybe cheaper shipping, multiple item purchases where some of them are cheaper at NCIX.

The advantage is to be able to get all of your parts in a single order from a single vendor and still get the best price. Or perhaps you need to ship with a certain company (for me, DHL is impossible because they never deliver and have no pickup locations, purolator is difficult because their closest pickup location is inconveniently far, Canada Post is OK but I still have to walk for ~30 minutes round trip, and UPS is ideal because the pickup location is very close to work).

If a company ships only DHL, as some do, and I can price match with NCIX and have them ship by UPS, it's a big value for me. Also, NCIX has rewards points, so there's that.

I see that Staples has the Kobo Mini (in black) for on sale this Friday for $39.12, honestly the price is right but I would rather have the white one. Deal is in store and online, check out their flyer for other deals. They have a 8GB memory key for under four bucks as well.

BB Playbook 32GB $118.99

The sale on these started today and I picked up one for the shop for onsite estimating and I'm going to pick up a second tomorrow. The price isn't bad at all, and the guys already have blackberries so getting them to tether and all that is a nice bonus.

I still want something Android for myself. Probably a Nexus 7 unless I can convince myself to get a 10" tablet for the right price.

Well I picked up the intel 330, 240gb tonight as by the time I got home from work and all the evenings fitness activities, the 180 was sold out. Still at $139 its not a bad deal, but more than I had wanted to spend. Since I got the 500meg xt momentus instead of the 750, dont feel to bad about overall spent on the imac upgrade so far. Picked up an icydock 2.5 ssd converter as well.

How low do you think the PJ710 will go? The lowest i found is at DirectDial for $1051 (on-sale). I need it for mid-Jan 2013. Would appreciate if you can ping me when u decided to pull the trigger

IIRC there's no reward points on PMed purchases.

Anyone saw any good online deals for usb drives? I'm looking to get a a pack of 5 or 10... 2-8GB.

Costco.com has a nice deal of 10 keys, 8Gb for $50, but .ca doesn't have the same thing, bastards.

I still prefer to purchase my electronic goods in Canada. Returns, if defective, is so much easier. Besides the line up at the Vancouver main Border crossing is minimum 2-3 hours.

No stock online, you found that at the Fort Erie store? Haven't looked in St. Catharines.

Yes, got it at the Fort Erie store. I was the first person to buy one on sale, and he said they had a bit over 70 brought in just for the sale.

Going to leave to pick up another after lunch.

I dropped in at Staples while I was out just now and was surprised to find that they still had a few left, so I picked one up. I use my old 16GB so much for so many different things that I figured for $118.99 for a 32GB you can't go wrong! I suppose some might prefer to hold out for a Nexus 7 or the like, but there's absolutely nothing that I need that the PB doesn't do extremely well, and the image quality and overall build quality reflects the much higher price point it was designed to compete in. If it does what you need (in my case, watching movies, reading books, listening to music, and general Internet surfing) this is an incredible value!

They're fantastic devices when they run 2.1, it's just that RIM dropped the ball so badly when the thing was initially released that no one bothered with the device and it's now relegated to a Canadian-only has-been. The multitasking on these things is phenomenal and blows iOS and Android out of the water, and the apps that do exist are very well done.

The guys at the shop have already fallen in love with them even though they've only had them for a day or so. They don't need games or crazy apps or anything of the sort. They just need the ability to view/edit documents, access their email, schedule and contacts and to browse the web. In that regard, the Playbook is the best bang for the buck you'll find. The fact that they use blackberries makes it all the more easier to get the thing tethered for data access on the road.

Myself? Well, I'm not going to lie - I'm partial to Android. I want a 10" Android tablet but everything I've read about the Nexus 10 battery life says it sucks. I may settle for a Nexus 7.

NCIX is unreachable..

Right as they unveiled the sale.

They could have anticipated and added chipmunks, no?
